The Indians have released outfielder Johnny Damon and pitcher Jeremy Accardo, the club announced via Twitter on Thursday.

Damon was designated for assignment last Friday. The Indians were apparently unable to find a trade suitor and will make him a free agent. The 38-year-old mustered just a .222/.281/.329 line for the Indians, including 46 hits -- leaving him still 231 shy of 3,000 for his career.

Accardo appeared in 26 games for the Indians this season, throwing 35.1 innings with a 4.58 ERA. He had a walk rate of 4.1 per nine innings as control continues to be a problem -- his last season with a rate under 4.0 per nine innings came in 2008.
