Kyuji Fujikawa paying off already

Kyuji Fujikawa may not be the Cubs' closer just yet, but he was the first of their relievers to record a save this season, as he and James Russell bailed out Carlos Marmol to preserve a 3-1 win over the Pirates on opening day.

Marmol followed up the strikeout of Garrett Jones with a hit by pitch, a single and a walk, and after 19 pitches, he was lifted for Russell.

Fujikawa's one-out save was a bonus for owners who drafted him in the hopes that he would soon be replacing Marmol in the closer's role. It doesn't signify an imminent role change, but Marmol's quick ouster shows that the Cubs may not be patient with their incumbent closer.

He is still available in close to two-thirds of the leagues on CBSSports.com, and now is the time to roster Fujikawa -- before the Cubs make a move to change closers. Given their apparent impatience with Marmol, Fujikawa may be the most enticing closer-in-waiting on waivers right now.
