The Cardinals may be getting one of their best hitters back soon, and the Orioles have some turnover in their pitching ranks.

  • Lance Berkman (knee) hasn't suited up for the Cardinals since May 19. B.J. Rains of Fox Sports Midwest reports Berkman was jogging in the outfield prior to Monday's game against the Rockies, the first on-field step in his road to recovery.
  • Dontrelle Willis is retiring. Roch Kubatko of MASN notes Orioles GM Dan Duquette is unsure if such a decision is related to the pitcher's performance or health.
  • The Orioles have recalled right-handed pitcher Steve Johnson, the team announced. Johnson, 24, has yet to pitch in the majors. He owns a 2.73 ERA with over a strikeout per inning in nine starts and five relief appearances for Triple-A Norfolk this season.
