Kiermaier will pick up his fifth consecutive start Wednesday, though Daulton Varsho is on the bench with a back injury for a fourth day in a row. The 34-year-old Kiermaier at least showed some signs of life at the plate with a three-hit performance in Tuesday's 9-4 win, and another strong game Wednesday could put him back in the mix for more playing time in the outfield even after Varsho returns. Varsho could slide over to left field to make room for Kiermaier in center on a more frequent basis if the Blue Jays choose to scale back the playing time of Davis Schneider, who is hitting .135 dating back to June 6.

Getting the start in center field and batting ninth, Kiermaier produced his first multi-hit performance since May 8. The veteran defensive whiz came into the game slashing a woeful .111/.135/.194 over 38 plate appearances in June with a 46.2-percent strikeout rate, and only a recent back issue for Daulton Varsho has given Kiermaier consistent starts again. He remains a long way from fantasy utility, even in deep formats.

Kiermaier fouled a ball off his knee in the fourth inning and eventually came out of the game in the seventh. Because the Jays are only calling his injury a bruise, it's likely he avoided a serious injury, but it's possible the 34-year-old sits out a game or two in order to heal.
