Knicks' Miles McBride: Set to reprise secondary role
McBride (toe) is healthy and set to reprise a secondary role for the Knicks in 2024-25, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports.
McBride needed surgery on the pinky toe of his right foot in June but is full go heading into training camp. The 2021 second-round pick took on a leading role at times last season when Jalen Brunson was unavailable. McBride made 16 starts, including two in the postseason, and averaged 18.0 points, 3.9 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 42.6 minutes during those contests. However, Brunson is also healthy heading into training camp, plus the Knicks bolstered their backcourt by trading for Mikal Bridges this offseason, pushing McBride down the depth chart. McBride should compete with Donte DiVincenzo, Cameron Payne and rookie Tyler Kolek for backup guard minutes to begin the 2024-25 campaign.

Knicks' Miles McBride: Undergoes toe procedure
The Knicks announced Thursday that McBride underwent a procedure of the pinky toe on his right foot earlier this week, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
The team didn't provide an official timeline for McBride's recovery, but he's expected to resume full basketball activities later in the summer, which puts him on track to be ready to go for the start of training camp in the fall. During his third NBA season in 2023-24, McBride struggled to find consistent playing time early in the campaign when the Knicks were in better health, but he took on a sizable role as injuries began to pile up over the course of the season. After the All-Star break, McBride appeared in 39 of the Knicks' 40 games (including playoffs) and averaged 11.7 points, 2.5 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 three-pointers in 29.6 minutes per contest. Though he excelled in a supporting role when given major minutes, McBride will likely see a stark drop in playing time in 2024-25 with the Knicks having acquired Mikal Bridges and re-signed OG Anunoby (hamstring) this offseason.

Knicks' Miles McBride: Returning to bench
McBride won't start Sunday's Game 7 against the Pacers, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
With OG Anunoby (hamstring) returning from a four-game absence and Josh Hart playing through an abdomen injury he suffered in Game 6, McBride will shift to his usual reserve role. McBride has scored in double figures in four straight games, averaging 15.8 points on 46.2 percent shooting during that stretch.

Knicks' Miles McBride: Enters starting lineup
McBride will enter the starting lineup for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Pacers, Tony East of SI.com reports.
The Knicks have dropped two games in a row with OG Anunoby (hamstring) sidelined and the series is tied, so they will shake things up by going smaller. With McBride starting, Precious Achiuwa will head to the bench. McBride was terrific in Sunday's Game 4, scoring 16 points with five rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes.

Knicks' Miles McBride: Passive performance Wednesday
McBride amassed four points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and one assist across 20 minutes during Wednesday's 130-121 victory over the Pacers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
McBride managed just four points in the win, struggling to find any real rhythm on the offensive end. Although his role has been somewhat limited to this point, OG Anunoby (hamstring) going down could open up an interesting opportunity. Should Anunoby be forced to miss time, look for McBride to potentially slide into the starting lineup for Game 3.

The Knicks are rolling with a tight seven-man rotation lately, and McBride has locked himself in as the sixth man with his strong play off the bench. Through five games in the opening-round series, McBride has averaged 13.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.4 three-pointers.

Knicks' Miles McBride: Ignites offense
McBride logged 21 points (7-12 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal in 28 minutes during Saturday's 111-104 win over the 76ers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
McBride boomed for 16 points in the first half, fueled by sharp shooting from beyond the arc. McBride had more to his bag though, as he also hit a tough running layup high off the glass over Paul Reed to give the Knicks the lead midway through the fourth quarter. McBride's stellar defense and season-long 41.0 percent clip on 3.9 threes per game have him locked into a postseason rotation role.
