NEW YORK -- The St. Louis Rams are on the clock with the first pick in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. And though they've got significant leverage for a possible trade (and have already made plenty of moves to begin with), it appears they've got a guy targeted for the 33rd overall pick and won't be moving.

Mike Silver of Yahoo Sports, who's working out of the Rams' war room this week, tweeted on Friday afternoon that he knows "who the Rams will likely take at 33." That implies, I think, that the Rams won't be trading the pick. And Adam Schefter of ESPN confirms that implication, tweeting that "at this time, St. Louis does not intend to trade the first pick in the second round."

The Rams have a lot of needs, and chief among them might be wide receiver. And there are some interesting names at that spot too. Dane Brugler of NFLDraftScout.com put together his best available players for Friday's drafting action and Stephen Hill out of Georgia Tech and Rueben Randle of LSU are slotted at eight and nine and could make sense for the Rams with the first pick.

CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco and myself -- currently sitting on the CBSSports.com Live Draft Show, which starts at 6:30 -- have a theory that the first pick in the second round will come as a shocker and that the Rams might pick North Alabama cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

Jenkins is a superstar talent-wise, and a nightmare when it comes to character concerns. In other words, he reminds us a lot of Pacman Jones, who Fisher took in the first round of the 2005. Except Jenkins comes at a much cheaper cost, and the resulting discussion will revolve around Fisher's ability to maintain team discipline and turn Jenkins into a star.

If it happens (again, it's just a theory; if it's right I'll take credit and if it's wrong give Pete props) it'll make for some fascinating discussion about the future of the Rams.
