Colts' Joe Flacco: Stellar numbers in Week 5 loss
Flacco completed 33 of 44 passes for 359 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions and added three carries for 22 yards in the Colts' 37-34 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
Flacco led the Colts to a modest 10 points in the first half, although he did connect for his first touchdown toss of the day during that span via a one-yard connection with Michael Pittman in the first quarter. The veteran signal-caller heated up in the second half, however, hitting Mo Alie-Cox and Alec Pierce for scoring strikes of 18 and 65 yards, respectively, and just narrowly missing another TD to each on an overthrow to the tight end and a play in which the speedy wideout was ruled down by contact at the one-yard line following a 46-yard gain. Flacco recorded completions to nine different targets overall, but his otherwise standout afternoon was partly marred by taking a sack with 12 seconds remaining and no timeouts. Nevertheless, Flacco once again proved his ability to step in and deliver starter-quality production, and it remains to be seen if it will be him or Anthony Richardson (hip/oblique) who gets the starting call for a Week 6 divisional road clash against the Titans.

Colts' Joe Flacco: Draws start with Richardson out
Flacco will start Sunday's game against the Jaguars with Anthony Richardson (oblique) inactive for the contest, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
The starting assignment was fully expected after Flacco took most of the first-team reps during practice this week while Richardson was listed as a limited participant in sessions Wednesday through Friday due to the oblique strain he sustained in last week's 27-24 win over the Steelers. Upon entering the Week 4 game in relief of Richardson on the Colts' second drive, Flacco completed 16 of 26 pass attempts for 168 yards and two touchdowns. With Richardson and top running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) both sitting out Sunday, the Colts could rely more heavily on the Flacco-led passing attack, which could increase the viability of receivers Michael Pittman and Josh Downs as fantasy options in Week 5.

Colts' Joe Flacco: Primed for Week 5 start
Flacco appears to be in position to start Sunday's game against the Jaguars after the Colts announced Anthony Richardson (oblique) is now listed as doubtful for the matchup.
When Richardson exited Sunday's 27-24 win over the Steelers during the Colts' second offensive drive, Flacco stepped in to complete 16 of 26 pass attempts for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Flacco's steady hand in directing the offense was even more impressive by the fact that he was able to pick apart one of the league's best defenses in Pittsburgh. With Richardson managing nothing more than limited participation in practice this week, Flacco should be set up well to deliver a useful fantasy outing against a Jaguars defense that's allowed the third-most passing yards in 2024.
