Bengals' Myles Murphy: Diagnosed with knee sprain
Murphy is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks due to a knee injury he sustained during Wednesday's joint practice with the Colts, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
The good news for Murphy and the Bengals is that his knee injury is not of the season-ending variety. However, it likely means that the 2023 first-round pick will miss the beginning of the regular season. Murphy's absence opens the door for Cedric Johnson, Joseph Ossai and Justin Blazek to see more backup reps at defensive end behind starters Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard (knee).

Bengals' Myles Murphy: Avoids serious injury
Murphy appears to have avoided a serious injury after going down with a leg issue during Thursday's joint practice, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Garafolo also notes that examinations are still ongoing, but the 2023 first-round pick out of Clemson is expected to miss a couple weeks. Murphy had a relatively quiet rookie season, recording 20 total tackles, including 3.0 sacks, across 17 regular-season games, but he could be in for a bigger role in year two once he moves past this leg injury.

Bengals' Myles Murphy: Quiet rookie season
Murphy tallied 20 tackles (10 solo) and three sacks across 17 regular-season games with the Bengals in 2023.
Murphy, a 2023 first-round pick, never stepped into a starting role as a rookie and didn't handle more than 50 percent of defensive snaps in a single game until Week 16. The former Clemson standout is young, having just turned 22, and he boasts 6-foot-5, 268-pound size plus rare athleticism, so there's still reason to be optimistic about his prospects after another offseason of development. Still, there's also no guarantee he'll be ready to start as a sophomore, making the defensive line a position of need for Cincinnati this offseason.

Bengals' Myles Murphy: Getting more snaps
Murphy played 27 defensive snaps and recorded four tackles, including a sack, in the Bengals' overtime win over the Vikings.
The 2023 first-round pick has been slowly increasing his role with the team, and DJ Reader's quad injury added some urgency to the Bengals' needs. The 27 snaps represented a 40-percent snap share, his highest percentage this season.
