Ersson stopped 30 of 32 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 preseason loss to the Bruins.
The 24-year-old netminder battled to a 1-1 tie through two periods, but Ersson gave up a power-play tally to Tyler Johnson midway through the third, and Boston then piled on two empty-netters after he left the crease. Ersson had a roller-coaster 2023-24 campaign once he took over as the Flyers' starter, winning a career-high 23 games but posting a 2.82 GAA and .890 save percentage. While he heads into the current season at the top of the depth chart, he could face a stiff challenge from Ivan Fedotov if the towering Russian adapts quickly to the speed of the NHL.

Ersson saw action in 51 games last season in which he posted a 23-19-7 record, 2.82 GAA and four shutouts. With Ivan Fedotov having signed a new contract in the offseason, the 24-year-old Ersson will face significant pressure to maintain the top job in the City of Brotherly Love. As such, it seems unlikely Ersson will get back over the 50-game mark this upcoming season.

Ersson stopped 16 of 17 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Capitals.
Ersson was solid Tuesday, holding Washington to an Alex Ovechkin goal in the first period. However, with the Flyers needing a regulation win to stay alive in the playoff hunt, Ersson went to the bench with the score tied 1-1 in the third period, allowing T.J. Oshie to collect the game-winner in an empty net. Although it was an inconsistent year for Ersson overall, he finished strong, going 2-1-0 while allowing just two goals on 62 shots over his final three outings. He'll finish the season 23-19-7 with an .890 save percentage and a 2.82 GAA.

Ersson was excellent in his last start, stopping all 20 shots in a 1-0 win over the Devils on Saturday. The 24-year-old has had an up-and-down year thus far, recording an .890 save percentage and a 23-18-7 record in 50 appearances. He will have a tough matchup against Washington, which would clinch a playoff spot with a win.

Ersson's teammates were excellent in front of him, and the 24-year-old netminder took care of the pucks that did get through. It was his second consecutive game where he allowed one or fewer goals after he surrendered 26 goals in his previous six starts. Ersson has four shutouts on the season, and he's the first Flyers' netminder to put up four since Steve Mason did it in 2015-16. He's also the first Philadelphia rookie goalie with that many since Brian Boucher had four in 1999-2000.

Ersson is coming off a 24-save performance in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Rangers. He has posted a 22-18-7 record this season with a 2.92 GAA and an .888 save percentage over 49 games played. The Devils rank 10th in the league with 3.29 goals per contest this campaign.

Ersson was sharp, holding the Rangers to a lone Artemi Panarin power-play goal in the first period en route to a 4-1 victory, marking Ersson's first win since March 23. The 24-year-old Ersson had gone 0-4-1 with an ugly .787 save percentage in his previous six appearances. Overall, he's now 22-18-7 with an .888 save percentage and 2.92 GAA this year. Ersson figures to be back in net Saturday when the Flyers host New Jersey in their penultimate game of the team's season.

His team seemingly forgot how to play and left Ersson on his own. His pull came after giving up four goals in under three minutes of action in the second period. Fatigue may be playing a role for Ersson, who is 0-4-1 in his last six starts with two early departures. He has started 46 games this season, a huge spike from last season when he started just 10 contests.

Including Saturday's performance, Ersson has not had a save percentage above .900 since March 23, which unsurprisingly was his last victory. The Flyers are battling for a playoff position, but Ersson is a difficult goalie to trust for fantasy managers.
