The Morning Footy crew react to the continuing story and saga of the "Canadian drones" that were being used to spy on opponents New Zealand. A formal complaint has been filed by New Zealand to the IOC after a Canadian supporter staff member was caught flying the drone. The individual was immediately detained by the French authorities and Canada's Olympic Committee has issued an apology and has identified the support staff member Joseph Lombardi, an uncredited analyst. He and Jasmine Mander, a coach who oversees Lombardi have been removed from the team and have been sent home. The story is on-going and we'll update as new information comes in.

This is the first game in Group A which also includes Guinea and New Zealand. These two faced each other pre-Olympics and the US lost. 15 of the 18 players for the US were capped. The Morning Footy crew discuss the scenes that Enzo Fernández broadcast live via social media from the Argentinian bus after their Copa America victory. The team were singing a chant containing racist and homophobic lyrics aimed at the French National Team. The French Football Federation has announced plans to file a legal complaint over the incident and Chelsea issued a statement condemning the incident after several French Chelsea players made public comments criticizing the scene. Fernández issued an apology also on social media that said in part, "Those words do not reflect my beliefs or my character. I stand against discrimination in all forms and apologize for getting caught up in the euphoria of our Copa America celebrations." The group discuss the ramifications and ugliness of it all.

The Morning Footy crew breakdown last night's USWNT send-off friendly vs Costa Rica that took place at Audi Field in the nations capitol. The US side took 26 shots to the visitors 2 but couldn't put one in the back of the net. Costa Rica keeper Noelia Bermúdez was a brick wall stopping 12 shots in the match. The Morning Footy crew welcome in Felipe Cardenas who was down in Miami for the Copa América final between Argentina and Colombia. From un-ticketd fans to bum-rushing the gates and climbing over walls to destruction of the venue, the scenes prior to kick-off were nothing but despicable and an utter failure on the part of organizers. The match was delayed by an hour and twenty-two minutes, but that was the least of the concerns as fans, including children, were bottlenecked and smashed in to areas that quickly became unsafe and unstable under an already unbearable heat. Cardenas describes everything surrounding the experience and delivers his perspective on the events that took place.
