If the Marlins are sellers at the trade deadline, they'll listen to offers for anyone and everyone, including 22-year-old Giancarlo Stanton, but they're more likely to sign Stanton to an extension than deal him, wrote MLB.com's Joe Frisaro.
- Stanton isn't eligible for arbitration until after next season, and is on his way to becoming the face of the Marlins' franchise.
- Stanton would bring in the biggest haul if the Marlins do become sellers, so the Marlins listening to offers would hardly be surprising.
- Stanton is hitting .284/.364/.554 in 80 games this season, with 19 home runs and 50 RBI. He's currently on the DL after undergoing arthroscopic right knee surgery.
- Since coming into the league three years ago, Stanton hasn't posted a slugging percentage below .507.
- Other significant Marlins that could be available at the deadline: Hanley Ramirez, Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco, Omar Infante, Anibal Sanchez, and Randy Choate.
- Sanchez and Choate are the most likely to be dealt, as they're pending free agents.
- Choate, a left-handed reliever, is earning $1.5 million this season, and has an impressive 2.28 ERA in 42 games this season.
- Sanchez, a right-handed starter, is earning $8 million this season, which he was awarded in arbitration, and has a 4.12 ERA in 17 starts. He's struck out 95 batters in 107 innings.
- Carlos Lee, recently acquired, and also a free agent at season's end, could also be dealt before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline if the Marlins decide to sell.
- If the Marlins don't get to .500 soon, trade chatter will only increase.
