  • Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Clubs first homer in loss

Brujan went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Phillies.

Brujan got the scoring started in this one with a leadoff blast off Taijuan Walker in the bottom of the fifth inning. It was his first home run as a Marlin and just his fourth in 130 major-league games. Brujan also singled and was caught stealing and added an additional run after reaching on a fielder's choice. The 26-year-old has become an everyday player for the Marlins over the last two weeks, starting 13 of the last 15 contests. His production has slowed in May, but Brujan has shown enough since getting regular reps to make him a viable deep-league option.

  • Marlins' Jesus Luzardo: Strikes out eight in return from IL

Luzardo (0-3) took the loss Saturday versus the Phillies, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He recorded eight strikeouts.

Luzardo looked sharp in his return from the injured list, striking out eight while picking up an impressive 18 swinging strikes on just 79 pitches. He might have tired a bit in the sixth, giving up a double and a game-tying RBI single before being lifted with two outs and a runner on. That runner came around to score, adding another run to his ledger. While the ending of his night wasn't ideal, it was an encouraging performance from Luzardo against a tough lineup. His next start will come at home versus the Mets.

Head is in Jupiter rehabbing from an adductor strain, Alex Krutchik of FishonFirst.com reports.

Head was part of the Padres' trade package to acquire Luis Arraez on May 3. Before the trade, Head was slashing .237/.317/.366 with two triples, one home run and nine RBI over 104 plate appearances in Single-A. The 19-year-old outfielder is considered day-to-day while he works through the adductor strain.

  • Marlins' Eli Villalobos: Optioned to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Villalobos to Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.

Villalobos appeared in three major-league games since having his contract selected by Miami on May 5, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out three over 4.1 innings. The move corresponds with the Marlins reinstating southpaw Jesus Luzardo (elbow) from the 15-day IL.

  • Marlins' Jesus Luzardo: Clears IL

The Marlins reinstated Luzardo (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Saturday.

Luzardo made one start in his rehab assignment, pitching 5.2 scoreless innings with one hit, one walk and six strikeouts with Single-A Jupiter on May 5. The 26-year-old southpaw will waste no time getting into major-league action and is starting Saturday against Philadelphia. Before landing on the IL, Luzardo was 0-2 over five starts with a 6.58 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 27:13 K:BB over 26 innings. In a corresponding move, the Marlins optioned right-hander Eli Villalobos to Triple-Jacksonville.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Chased early again

Rogers (0-6) yielded five runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks over 3.1 innings Friday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Phillies.

Rogers gave up two runs in the first three frames before the Phillies piled on three more in the fourth inning. He's been blasted for 12 earned runs in just 5.2 innings over his last two outings, inflating his ERA from 4.31 to 6.57 in the process. Rogers has yet to complete six innings in any start this year and owns a lackluster 31:17 K:BB through 37 frames. His next outing is currently projected to come in Detroit next week.

  • Marlins' Ryan Weathers: Decent showing against LAD

Weathers (2-4) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk over six innings against the Dodgers. He struck out three.

Weathers submitted his second straight quality start; however, he was stuck with the loss as the Marlins could only muster up one run off Gavin Stone and the Dodgers' bullpen. He gave up a two-run home run in the sixth to Teoscar Hernandez, marking Weathers' fifth consecutive start allowing a long ball. The southpaw has been serviceable for Miami this season, having allowed more than three runs once in eight starts with a 1.32 WHIP.

  • Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Returns from IL

The Marlins reinstated Garrett (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Garrett isn't expected to make his season debut for the big club until Sunday versus Philadelphia, but he'll rejoin the Marlins a few days early after fellow starter Edward Cabrera (shoulder) was placed on the IL in a corresponding move. The 26-year-old southpaw opened the season on the shelf due to a left shoulder impingement and made two rehab starts before a brief shutdown period while he contended with a dead-arm phase. Garrett has bounced back well since resuming his rehab assignment April 26, compiling a 1.32 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB in 13.2 innings across three outings between Triple-A Jacksonville and the Marlins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate. Garrett built up to 82 pitches in his latest rehab outing Monday and isn't expected to face any major workload restrictions when he debuts this weekend.

  • Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Back to IL with shoulder issue

The Marlins placed Cabrera on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement.

It's the same injury that kept him out for the first few weeks of the season. Cabrera will be eligible to return from the IL later this month, but there's currently no timetable for the righty.

Rivera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Rivera started in eight consecutive games from April 27 through this past Saturday, but he appears to have lost hold of a regular role in the wake of Jake Burger's recent return from the injured list. He'll be on the bench Wednesday for the fourth consecutive contest.

  • Marlins' Tim Anderson: Sits out Wednesday

Anderson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Dodgers, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
