Moore was originally set to start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's series opener with the White Sox, but he will now be away from the team for up to three games. In his absence, Ryan Bliss could see some extra work at second base while Leonardo Rivas was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to replace Moore on the major-league roster.
The Mariners are expected to place Moore on the paternity leave list, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Moore is in Monday's lineup against the White Sox, so it appears the move won't occur until after the game. Leonardo Rivas and Jhonathan Diaz have joined the Mariners' taxi squad and it sounds one of them will join the active roster as Moore's replacement.

Moore didn't log one of his trademark extra-base hits, but he still found a way to make an impact by working himself into scoring position after his fourth-inning single with the help of his ninth steal. The 31-year-old remains in a multi-game funk, however, as he's just 3-for-25 over the last seven contests, a span during which he's reached via a trio of singles, one walk and three hit-by-pitches.

Dating back to May 23, Moore is slashing .103/.297/.138 over a stretch of nine games. If Moore's struggles continue, Ryan Bliss could end up unseating him as the preferred option at second base.
