Report: Warren Sapp declares for bankruptcy, lost championship rings

NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp has reportedly declared for bankruptcy and says that he's lost both his Super Bowl ring and his NCAA Championship ring.

Warren Sapp was in the news recently for calling out Jeremy Shockey as the Saints bounty scandal snitch, a claim that eventually proved untrue. Now he's in the news for something much worse: according to TMZ, Sapp's filed for bankruptcy. 

In papers obtained by the gossip website, Sapp claims that he owes $6.7 million to various creditors, including "hundreds of thousands of dollars in child-support payments and alimony." Sapp also claims he owes $853,000 to the IRS for taxes in 2006 and $89,000 for 2010 taxes.

According to Sapp, he has only $6.45 million, which doesn't include the 2002 Super Bowl ring he won with the Buccaneers or the NCAA Championship ring he won with the Miami Hurricanes.

Sapp does list, per TMZ, "240 pairs of Jordan sneakers, large nude woman painting, lion skin rung (female - lioness), Nike golf clubs, DeGrisogono watch (scratch on crystal, nicks and scratches on band), a boxing glove signed by Muhammad Ali" as possessions of value.

And Sapp indicated on the papers that he earns $45,000 per month from the NFL Network, but that his deal expires in August and "he's not sure if the network will extend his deal."

NFLN "decided not to fire" Sapp following his comments about Shockey, but that, plus Sapp's comments in the papers, could be an indication that he won't remain with the network permanently. 

Shockey's said that he wants the NFL to punish Sapp for his comments and reportedly could pursue legal action against Sapp. If the latter is true, it appears that Shockey may need to get in line.
