QB Ben Roethlisberger -- barely three days after raising mild alarm by revealing a torn rotator cuff (last season) -- left a few minutes early from the Steelers' full-pads practice Saturday. Time to sound the alarms again?

“He’s fine,” Mike Tomlin said. “Somebody stepped on his foot. You guys love the Ben updates.”

Updates on the rest of the ailing Steelers: Starters OG Willie Colon (ankle) and RB Isaac Redman (groin) missed practice Saturday afternoon following Friday night injuries. Tomlin continued to characterize their return as “day-to-day.”

Reserve LBs Brandon Johnson and Ryan Baker had ankle injuries “of some description” on Saturday, Tomlin said. It was befitting for the first full-pads, game-conditions workout, which the coach described: “Good spirited work. Good start. I liked the energy and enthusiasm and competitive spirit of the men.”
