Othmann, Alex Belzile, Brett Berard, Anton Blidh, Ben Harpur, Dylan Garand, Jake Leschyshyn, Connor Mackey, Victor Mancini, Tyler Pitlick, Matthew Robertson, Brandon Scanlin and Adam Sykora were recalled from AHL Hartford on Saturday.
Hartford was eliminated in three straight games by Hershey on Wednesday in the AHL Atlantic Division Finals. Othmann earned one goal and five points in 10 minor-league postseason outings. He had 21 goals and 49 points in 67 regular-season games for the Wolf Pack in 2023-24.

The Rangers reassigned Othmann to AHL Hartford on Friday.
Othmann was recalled as Artemi Panarin (lower body) and Jimmy Vesey (lower body) were both game-time decisions against New Jersey on Thursday. Panarin and Vesey managed to play versus the Devils, leaving Othmann as a healthy scratch. The 21-year-old Othmann was drafted 16th overall in 2021 and has 14 goals and 22 assists in 44 AHL games this season. Othmann could crack the Rangers' lineup on a regular basis next season.

Othmann made his NHL debut in January and played in three contests. While he was unable to hit the scoresheet, Othmann managed six shots on goal while averaging 9:05 of ice time. Othmann had 14 goals and 22 assists in 44 games with AHL Hartford before his recall. The Rangers are hurting up front, as Artemi Panarin and Jimmy Vesey are day-to-day with lower-body injuries. Should either one remain on the shelf, Othmann could garner a top-six role Thursday versus New Jersey.

Othmann recorded five shots on goal, three hits and one blocked shot as the Rangers defeated the Blackhawks 4-1 in his NHL debut Thursday.
Othmann didn't look out of place in his first NHL action. Most of his 12:26 TOI was spent playing left wing in the bottom six, but the 2021 first-round draft pick (16th overall) also took a few shifts at right wing alongside Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider while Blake Wheeler served a third-period fighting major. With Artemi Panarin and Kreider locked in as the left wings on the top two lines, Othmann's path to top-six minutes at his natural position is blocked, but the rookie should maintain a spot in the lineup with Tyler Pitlick (lower body) week-to-week and both Kaapo Kakko (lower body) and Filip Chytil (upper body) on IR.

The 20-year-old was selected 16th overall in 2021. He split the 2022-23 season between OHL Flint and Peterborough, scoring 29 goals while adding 38 assists in 56 contests. He excelled in the playoffs with eight goals and 25 points in 23 games. Othmann needs some minor-league seasoning and could spend most, if not all, of the 2023-24 campaign with Hartford.
