Jets' Kaapo Kahkonen: Starting preseason clash
Kahkonen will be between the pipes at home versus Edmonton on Wednesday, John Lu of TSN reports.

It figures to be a battle throughout training camp between the 28-year-old Kahkonen and Eric Comrie, who may have the inside track due to his prior stint with the Jets.

Kahkonen had a 7-24-3 record, 3.64 GAA and .898 save percentage across 37 contests between San Jose and New Jersey last season. He'll probably compete with Eric Comrie for the backup gig during training camp, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Kahkonen win that competition. Either way, Connor Hellebuyck will absorb the bulk of the starts in Winnipeg so long as he stays healthy.

Devils' Kaapo Kahkonen: Tough luck loss to Flyers
Kahkonen made 20 saves Saturday in a 1-0 loss to the Flyers.
The only puck that got past him came off the stick of Travis Konecny, who broke in alone shorthanded and beat Kahkonen with a wrist shot from the slot. It's been a rough go for Kahkonen this season. He's 7-24-3 in 33 appearances between San Jose and New Jersey, and while his GAA and save percentage have improved since the trade, Kahkonen hasn't been able to translate that better performance into wins. He's just 1-4-0 with one shutout in six starts with the Devils. Kahkonen is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end, and his future is up in the air.

Devils' Kaapo Kahkonen: Busy in loss to Blueshirts
Kahkonen turned aside 37 shots in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers.
The Devils erased an early 2-0 deficit with a three-goal second period, but Kahkonen couldn't hold on to the lead against a 15-shot New York barrage in the final frame. The 27-year-old netminder is 1-3-0 in four starts since getting traded to New Jersey, but that record is largely due to a lack of goal support -- he's given up only nine goals on 117 shots (.923 save percentage) with the Devils.

Kahkonen earned a shutout in Sunday's 4-0 victory against the Islanders, stopping all 36 shots faced.
It was Kahkonen's first win in three games for the Devils after joining the club at the trade deadline. Even with the strong performance, the 27-year-old Finn will likely remain in the backup role behind fellow trade acquisition Jake Allen. As such, Kahkonen won't offer much fantasy value moving forward.

Devils' Kaapo Kahkonen: Falls in Devils debut
Kahkonen allowed two goals on 25 shots in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Rangers.
Kahkonen was solid in his first start with New Jersey, allowing just a pair of second-period goals, though the Devils failed to provide much support offensively, sticking the 27-year-old netminder with the loss. Kahkonen struggled behind a porous Sharks defense for much of the year, going 6-20-3 with an .895 save percentage and 3.82 GAA in San Jose. While he should have more opportunities for wins in New Jersey, Kahkonen will likely split goaltending duties with Jake Allen (not injury related) and Nico Daws down the stretch.

Devils' Kaapo Kahkonen: Acquired by Devils
Kahkonen was brought in by New Jersey from San Jose in exchange for Vitek Vanecek (lower body) and a seventh-round pick Friday, Jeff Marek of Sportsnet reports.
Kahkonen could be in line to split the goaltending duties with fellow deadline acquisition Jake Allen for New Jersey. It's been a rough season for the 27-year-old Kahkonen, as he has been limited to just six wins in 31 games while sporting a 3.82 GAA and an .895 save percentage behind an awful Sharks squad. Perhaps with a stronger supporting cast Kahkoenen will be able to secure some wins down the stretch before potentially hitting free agency this offseason.
