Estrada (2-0) earned the win over the Yankees on Sunday, striking out all five batters he faced. Estrada threw 20 of 26 pitches for strikes and got all five of his punchouts on swinging strikes. The right-handed reliever has now struck out each of the last 10 batters he's faced swinging to set a Padres record. Estrada's been dominant during his time with San Diego this season, allowing just one earned run over 15.1 frames while posting a 25:4 K:BB.... See More ... See Less

Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Collects first career save
Estrada picked up the save Friday against Atlanta. He pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts. Estrada notched his first career save by retiring the bottom of the order on 16 pitches. The 25-year-old reliever has dazzled in his first 10.2 innings this season, firing a 0.84 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with 13 strikeouts. However, there shouldn't be any closer controversy in San Diego, as Robert Suarez was called upon earlier in a high-leverage spot, facing the heart of the talented Atlanta lineup in the eighth inning Friday night.... Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Back to big club
The Padres recalled Estrada from Triple-A El Paso on Friday. Estrada was sent down to Triple-A following the two-game Korea Series against the Dodgers. He's appeared in eight games with El Paso, registering a 2.08 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 20:3 K:BB and three saves over 8.2 frames, and the right-hander is set to bolster the Padres' bullpen. Estrada's move to the majors corresponds with right-hander Randy Vasquez being optioned to Triple-A El Paso.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Claimed by Padres
The Padres claimed Estrada off waivers from the Cubs on Monday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Estrada has a big arm, having struck out 21 over 16.1 innings at the major-league level and 180 in 117 frames in the minors. He's also sported terrible control at all levels. Still, the Padres saw his swing-and-miss stuff worthy of a gamble.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Jeremiah Estrada: Removed from 40-man roster
The Cubs outrighted Estrada to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports. Estrada was lit up for eight earned runs on 12 hits and 12 walks over 10.2 major-league innings this season. The 25-year-old right-hander no longer holds a 40-man roster spot in Chicago.... Cubs' Jeremiah Estrada: Recalled from Triple-A
The Cubs recalled Estrada from Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Estrada will replace Brad Boxberger after Boxberger was placed on the 15-day injured list with a fight forearm strain. In four MLB innings Estrada has yet to allow a run, and he'll likely be a mid-innings option for the Chicago bullpen while he's with the club.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Jeremiah Estrada: Optioned to Triple-A
Estrada was optioned to Triple-A Iowa by the Cubs on Thursday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Estrada has spun four scoreless innings in the majors this season but nonetheless finds himself back in the minors. He's clearing out to make room for Thursday's starter, Jameson Taillon, who was activated from the 15-day injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Jeremiah Estrada: Back in majors
Estrada was recalled from Triple-A Iowa by the Cubs on Friday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. The Cubs needed a fresh arm in the bullpen after Javier Assad's abbreviated start Thursday. Estrada was unscored upon in his first five appearances with Iowa and could work his way into high-leverage situations with the big club.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Jeremiah Estrada: Sent to Triple-A
Estrada was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports. Estrada is a popular speculative play for saves in draft-and-hold leagues, but it seemed likely he would open the year in the minors. He gave up one run with four strikeouts in four innings this spring after registering nine saves across the three highest levels of the minors last season en route to making his big-league debut.... Cubs' Jeremiah Estrada: Shuttled to Triple-A
The Cubs optioned Estrada to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports. He'll cede his spot in the Chicago bullpen to Keegan Thompson (back), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Estrada has worked 5.2 innings in relief for the Cubs this season, giving up two earned runs while striking out eight.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Jeremiah Estrada: Moves back to Triple-A
The Cubs returned Estrada to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday. Estrada and fellow reliever Brendon Little were both added to the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster as replacement players earlier this week, when starters Justin Steele and Adrian Sampson were placed on the restricted list for the Cubs' series in Toronto. With both Steele and Sampson now having been formally reinstated, Estrada will lose his spot on major-league roster, but he'll remain on the 40-man roster since Chicago selected his contract. He made his MLB debut in Tuesday's 5-3 loss, striking out two and working around a walk in a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Jeremiah Estrada: Called up from minors
Estrada's contract was selected from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday. Estrada was called up to take the roster spot of one of the two pitchers who were placed on the restricted list while the Cubs play a three-game set in Toronto. He will presumably return to Iowa after the series concludes, but the Cubs will not be required to place him on waivers.... See More ... See Less
