  • Flyers' Sean Couturier: Recovering from sports hernia

Couturier said he's recovering from a "little sports hernia surgery, lower abs," Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports Thursday.

Couturier was limited to a goal and eight points over his final 33 contests in 2023-24 after supplying 10 goals and 30 points across his first 41 appearances. Although it's not clear how long he was dealing with a sports hernia, the injury might help explain his steep decline in offensive production in the second half of the campaign. The 31-year-old will look to rebound next season, but injuries have been a recurring problem -- he missed the entire 2022-23 campaign due to injury and was limited to 29 games in 2021-22.

  • Flyers' Jamie Drysdale: Underwent surgery in April

Drysdale underwent surgery in April to address a significant lower-body injury, Adam Kimelman of reports.

The exact nature of Drysdale's injury wasn't revealed, but general manager Daniel Briere suggested it was a lower-body issue. Drysdale is expected to be ready to play by the start of the 2024-24 season, but given the severity of the injury, fantasy managers will want to track his status through training camp.

  • Flyers' Egor Zamula: Solid in first full season

Zamula recorded five goals, 16 assists and nine power-play points in 66 regular-season games this year.

Zamula finally was able to crack the Flyers' roster as a full-time player this season after having previously logged just 26 games over the prior three campaigns. The 24-year-old blueliner will need a new contract this summer but, as a restricted free agent, should be back in the fold ahead of training camp in the fall. If he can maintain or increase his role with the man advantage, Zamula should be capable of pushing for the 35-40 point mark next season.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Secures two-year extension

Fedotov agreed to terms on a two-year, $6.5 million contract extension with Philadelphia on Tuesday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.

Fedotov played just three games for the Flyers this season after coming over from the KHL, going 0-1-1 with a 4.96 GAA and .811 save percentage. With an extension in hand, it seems Fedotov and Samuel Ersson will battle it out for the starting gig during training camp in the fall.

  • Flyers' Ryan Johansen: Out indefinitely

Johansen (undisclosed) doesn't believe he's medically fit to play hockey, and GM Daniel Briere doesn't expect to get the 31-year-old forward back, Jon Bailey of Philly Hockey Now reports Friday.

Johansen had 13 goals and 23 points in 63 contests with Colorado before being dealt to Philadelphia on March 6. The Flyers promptly tried to reassign him to AHL Lehigh Valley, but Johansen informed Philadelphia that he was hurt, which made him ineligible to be moved to the minors, per Max Miller of The Hockey News. Instead, he spent the remainder of the campaign attempting to recover from the injury. He comes with an $8 million annual cap hit through 2024-25, but the Flyers are only responsible for half of that burden with the rest being charged to Nashville because the Predators retained salary as part of the trade to Colorado back in June. If Johansen can't play in 2024-25, then he will presumably be moved to long-term injured reserve.

  • Flyers' Rasmus Ristolainen: Underwent surgery

Ristolainen has undergone surgery for a ruptured triceps tendon, the team announced Thursday. He is expected to be fine for the start of training camp in September.

Ristolainen didn't play past Feb. 10 due to the injury. He finished the campaign with a goal, four points, 56 hits and 45 blocks in 31 appearances. Although Ristolainen comes with a $5.1 million cap hit through 2026-27, he might start 2024-25 on the third pairing after averaging just 16:41 of ice time this season.

  • Flyers' Adam Ginning: Moved to minors

Ginning was assigned to AHL Lehigh Valleyon Wednesday.

Ginning scored a goal in nine appearances with the Flyers in 2023-24. He also has two goals, 13 points and 82 PIM in 56 contests with Lehigh Valley. The 24-year-old forward will likely get an opportunity to fight for a bottom-six roster spot with the Flyers during next year's training camp.

  • Flyers' Ronnie Attard: Will report to AHL

Attard was moved to AHL Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

Attard registered two assists in 12 appearances with the Flyers this year. He also has appeared in 46 outings with Lehigh Valley, collecting 10 goals and 25 points in that span. The 25-year-old might not be able to make the 2024-25 NHL roster out of training camp, but even if he falls short of that mark, Attard is likely to see time with the Flyers at various points during the campaign as an injury replacement at a minimum.

  • Flyers' Olle Lycksell: Returns to minors

Lycksell was reassigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

Lycksell supplied a goal and five points in 18 appearances with the Flyers in 2023-24. He also has 19 goals and 38 points in 36 outings with Lehigh Valley. Philadelphia's season is over, but Lycksell will presumably link back up with the big club for next year's training camp to compete for a bottom-six roster spot.

  • Flyers' Massimo Rizzo: Agrees to entry-level contract

Rizzo signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Flyers on Wednesday that will start with the 2024-25 campaign.

Rizzo had 10 goals and 44 points in 30 NCAA contests with the University of Denver in 2023-24. He was originally selected by Carolina with the No. 216 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft but was acquired by the Flyers from the Hurricanes along with a 2025 fifth-round selection in exchange for David Kase back in August. The 22-year-old Rizzo might prove to be a solid addition to Philadelphia's forward corps in the long run.

  • Flyers' Erik Johnson: Lone goal vs. Washington

Johnson scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Capitals.

Johnson got the Flyers on the board midway through the second period, tipping an Egor Zamula shot past Charlie Lindgren to tie the game 1-1. The 36-year-old Johnson picked up two goals and three points in the last four games of the campaign after going scoreless in his first 13 contests with the Flyers. Johnson will wrap up the season with five goals and six points across 67 games between the Flyers and Sabres.

  • Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Falls in finale

Ersson stopped 16 of 17 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Capitals.

Ersson was solid Tuesday, holding Washington to an Alex Ovechkin goal in the first period. However, with the Flyers needing a regulation win to stay alive in the playoff hunt, Ersson went to the bench with the score tied 1-1 in the third period, allowing T.J. Oshie to collect the game-winner in an empty net. Although it was an inconsistent year for Ersson overall, he finished strong, going 2-1-0 while allowing just two goals on 62 shots over his final three outings. He'll finish the season 23-19-7 with an .890 save percentage and a 2.82 GAA.

  • Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Starting Tuesday

Ersson will guard the home crease Tuesday against Washington, per Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Ersson was excellent in his last start, stopping all 20 shots in a 1-0 win over the Devils on Saturday. The 24-year-old has had an up-and-down year thus far, recording an .890 save percentage and a 23-18-7 record in 50 appearances. He will have a tough matchup against Washington, which would clinch a playoff spot with a win.

  • Flyers' Hunter McDonald: Signs with Philadelphia

McDonald signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Flyers on Monday. The deal will begin with the 2024-25 season.

McDonald drew into 23 games with Northeastern University as a senior this season, picking up six points and 32 PIM over that span. The 21-year-old defender will spend the rest of the 2023-24 campaign with AHL Lehigh Valley before trying to make the Flyers' Opening Night roster during next season's training camp.

  • Flyers' Travis Konecny: Shortie seals win

Konecny scored a shorthanded goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over New Jersey.

Konecny has an NHL-best six shorthanded goals this season. It's the highest total in an NHL season since Michael Grabner did it in 2018-19. He was cheating a bit on the play and got lucky when Nick Seeler poked the puck into the neutral zone. Scott Laughton backhanded a pass to Konecny, who broke in alone and wired a wrist shot from the slot past Kaapo Kahkonen for the lone tally of the contest. It was also Konecny's 400th point in the NHL.
