  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Steady in limited ice

Fedotov stopped seven of eight shots he faced Thursday in the first half of a 5-4 win over New Jersey.

The only puck that got past him was a wrist shot off the stick of Ryan Schmelzer at the mid-point of the first period. Fedotov is a lock as Samuel Ersson's backup this season, and he has the talent to deliver a strong stretch of starts when he gets hot.

  • Flyers' Emil Andrae: Strong preseason continues

Andrae scored a goal and added two assists Thursday in a 5-4 win over New Jersey.

Andrae has had a strong preseason and is working to earn a spot as the Flyers sixth or seven defender. He has passed Adam Ginning on the depth chart, and is earning the trust of coach John Tortorella. Andrae won't impress on the fantasy ice, but he will give the Flyers a steady opt-in defender when the team needs a call up.

  • Flyers' Matvei Michkov: Productive in preseason action

Michkov recorded three goals and four assists over four preseason appearances this year, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Hall reports that Michkov won't play in Thursday's preseason finale against New Jersey, so the No. 7 pick from the 2023 Draft will now shift his focus toward making his NHL debut on Opening Night against Vancouver on Oct. 11. Ahead of Thursday's action, Michkov's seven points during preseason play are tied with Samuel Honzek for most in the NHL during exhibition play. Michkov made 47 appearances for HC Sochi of the KHL last year and logged 19 goals and 41 points.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Between pipes Thursday

Fedotov will defend the home crease versus the Devils on Thursday, according to Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Fedotov has allowed seven goals on 55 shots in three preseason contests. The 27-year-old Russian goaltender is expected to back up Samuel Ersson this season. Look for Aleksei Kolosov to also see action in net Thursday for the Flyers.

  • Flyers' Aleksei Kolosov: Playing second half

Kolosov will not be starting versus New Jersey on Thursday as previously reported but is expected to play the second half, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Kolosov's best chance of making the Opening Night roster will be if the Flyers decide to carry three netminders into the season. Even if that's the case, it seems unlikely the 22-year-old Belarussian will avoid playing at least some games in the minors with AHL Lehigh Valley. As such, Kolosov is unlikely to offer significant fantasy value this year.

  • Flyers' Aleksei Kolosov: In goal Thursday

Kolosov will get the starting nod at home versus the Devils on Thursday, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Kolosov will get his first taste of preseason action after coming back to North America this offseason. The 22-year-old netminder is hoping to make the Flyers' Opening Night roster but would need to unseat Ivan Fedotov for the backup spot, though the team could decide to carry three goalies into the regular season. Still, Kolosov likely could be headed to the minors at some point.

  • Flyers' Cal Petersen: Waived Wednesday

Petersen was placed on waivers Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Petersen had a 2.71 GAA and a .902 save percentage in 28 regular-season appearances with AHL Lehigh Valley last year. The 29-year-old netminder has a 46-44-10 record, 2.96 GAA and .903 save percentage across 106 career NHL games.

  • Flyers' Samu Tuomaala: Practicing in non-contact jersey

Tuomaala (undisclosed) practiced in a non-contact jersey Wednesday, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Tuomaala sustained an undisclosed injury during the 2024 Rookie Series in September, and he still appears to be limited by the issue with just over a week remaining until Opening Night. He logged 15 goals and 43 points over 69 regular-season appearances with AHL Lehigh Valley last year, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him back in the AHL this season.

  • Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Tough loss against Boston

Ersson stopped 30 of 32 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 preseason loss to the Bruins.

The 24-year-old netminder battled to a 1-1 tie through two periods, but Ersson gave up a power-play tally to Tyler Johnson midway through the third, and Boston then piled on two empty-netters after he left the crease. Ersson had a roller-coaster 2023-24 campaign once he took over as the Flyers' starter, winning a career-high 23 games but posting a 2.82 GAA and .890 save percentage. While he heads into the current season at the top of the depth chart, he could face a stiff challenge from Ivan Fedotov if the towering Russian adapts quickly to the speed of the NHL.

  • Flyers' Nick Seeler: Banged up in Tuesday's game

Seeler (undisclosed) logged just one shift in the third period of Tuesday's preseason game versus the Bruins, Charlie O'Connor of PHLY Sports reports.

Seeler was injured earlier in the game, but he was able to play one shift in the final frame. Given it's preseason, this may just be a precautionary move on the Flyers' part. The 31-year-old defenseman is expected to fill a bottom-four role on the Flyers' blue line in 2024-25.

  • Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Guarding goal Tuesday

Ersson will protect the road net in Tuesday's preseason game versus the Bruins.

Ersson is set for his second start of the preseason. He should be considered the Flyers' top goalie to begin 2024-25, though he'll face pressure from Ivan Fedotov and perhaps Aleksei Kolosov to keep that spot.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Tending twine Monday

Fedotov will start Monday's road preseason contest versus the Islanders, according to Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Fedotov will make his third appearance of the preseason -- the 27-year-old made 25 saves on 27 shots in Saturday's overtime win versus Boston. The Russian netminder will start before turning the net over to Aleksei Kolosov.

  • Flyers' Eetu Makiniemi: Sent to AHL

Makiniemi was assigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Sunday.

During his lone preseason appearance, Makiniemi stopped 13 of 14 shots across 31:14 of playing time in Monday's 5-0 loss to Montreal. In 18 regular-season outings for AHL San Jose in 2023-24, he posted an 8-8-0 record with a 3.14 GAA and a .900 save percentage. He will probably spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Guarding crease Saturday

Fedotov will defend the home net Saturday versus Boston in preseason action, Bill Meltzer of the Flyers' official site reports.

Fedotov played the first two periods of Sunday's 6-2 exhibition win over Washington, stopping 10 of 12 shots. He earned a record of 0-1-1 with a 4.95 GAA and an .811 save percentage in three regular-season outings with the Flyers in 2023-24. He is poised to start the upcoming campaign as Samuel Ersson's backup.

  • Flyers' Rhett Gardner: Placed on waivers

Gardner is on waivers Friday, PuckPedia reports.

Gardner had 10 goals, 23 points and 89 PIM in 60 regular-season games with AHL Lehigh Valley in 2023-24. He's also recorded a goal and two points in 41 career NHL appearances. If he isn't claimed off waivers, Gardner will likely open the 2024-25 campaign with the Flyers' top minor-league affiliate.

  • Flyers' Louis Belpedio: Waived Friday

Belpedio was placed on waivers Friday, according to PuckPedia.

Belpedio had four goals, 10 points and 55 PIM in 38 regular-season outings with AHL Lehigh Valley in 2023-24. He also got into 12 contests with the Flyers, scoring two goals and four points over that span. The 28-year-old might be summoned by Philadelphia at various times during the upcoming campaign, depending on the squad's injury situation.

  • Flyers' Ronnie Attard: Put on waivers

Attard was waived by the Flyers on Friday, per PuckPedia.

Attard had 10 goals and 27 points in 48 regular-season contests with AHL Lehigh Valley in 2023-24. He also had two assists across 12 outings with the Flyers. While Attard is set to open the campaign in the minors, he will likely have a stint with Philadelphia at some point in 2024-25, assuming he clears waivers.

  • Flyers' Spencer Gill: Agrees to entry-level deal

Gill signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Flyers on Friday, per PuckPedia.

Gill had 12 goals, 46 points and 62 PIM across 65 regular-season contests with QMJHL Rimouski in 2023-24. He's projected to remain with the junior club for the upcoming campaign. Philadelphia selected him with the No. 59 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

  • Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Tending twine Thursday

Ersson will be between the pipes at home versus the Islanders on Thursday, Bill Meltzer of NHL.com reports.

Ersson saw action in 51 games last season in which he posted a 23-19-7 record, 2.82 GAA and four shutouts. With Ivan Fedotov having signed a new contract in the offseason, the 24-year-old Ersson will face significant pressure to maintain the top job in the City of Brotherly Love. As such, it seems unlikely Ersson will get back over the 50-game mark this upcoming season.

  • Flyers' Eetu Makiniemi: Signs two-way deal

Makiniemi signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flyers on Tuesday, per PuckPedia.

Makiniemi was in camp on a professional tryout agreement, but after one preseason game, the Flyers gave him some job security. The 25-year-old is still likely to be ticketed for the AHL this year unless an injury arises for Samuel Ersson or Ivan Fedotov.
