  • Chiefs' Gerrit Prince: Wearing walking boot

Prince (lower leg) is not practicing Friday and is wearing a walking boot, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

Prince appears to be dealing with a lower-leg injury ahead of the start of training camp for veterans, but the Chiefs haven't opted to place him on a reserve list. That could indicate he'll be ready to participate in at least a limited fashion when camp officially kicks off Sunday. Prince is heading into his age-27 season and has yet to make his NFL debut since going undrafted out of UAB in 2022.

  • Chiefs' Joe Thuney: Opens camp on active/PUP

The Chiefs placed Thuney (pectoral) on the active/PUP list Wednesday.

After getting injured during the divisional round of the playoffs last season, Thuney missed the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl for Kansas City. Head coach Andy Reid had previously said that Thuney is expected to be cleared to play in advance of the Chiefs' Week 1 game against Baltimore. He's eligible to be activated from the PUP list at any time this summer.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Placed on PUP list

The Chiefs placed Nnadi (tricep) on the active/PUP list Wednesday.

Nnadi suffered a left tricep injury during Kansas City's wild-card win over the Dolphins after suiting up for all 17 of the team's regular-season games, and he was sidelined during OTAs. The defensive tackle can be activated from the PUP list at any point throughout training camp, though at this time, it's unclear whether he'll be available for the Chiefs' preseason opener against Jacksonville on Aug. 10.

  • Chiefs' Charles Omenihu: Heads to PUP list

The Chiefs placed Omenihu (knee) on the active/PUP list Wednesday.

Omenihu is still recovering from February surgery to repair a torn ACL, an injury he suffered uring Kansas City's AFC Championship Game win over the Ravens. The expectation is that he'll miss at least the early portion of the 2024 regular season.

  • Chiefs' Jaylen Watson: Placed on PUP list

The Chiefs placed Watson on the active/PUP list Wednesday with an undisclosed injury.

He'll be eligible to come off the PUP list at any time during training camp or the preseason, once the Chiefs deem him healthy enough to practice. The 2022 seventh-round draft pick was a rotational contributor in the Kansas City secondary last season, but he now appears primed for a more pivotal role in 2024 following the departure of L'Jarius Sneed.

  • Chiefs' Kyle Sheets: Gets chance in Kansas City

The Chiefs signed Sheets to a contract Wednesday.

Sheets initially joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent this spring before being cut in mid-June, and he now links up with Kansas City in time to join the team for introductory practices ahead the start of training camp. During his final collegiate season in 2023 at Division II Slippery Rock, Sheets recorded 76 receptions for 1,186 yards and 17 touchdowns.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Back on practice field

Worthy (hamstring) participated in Wednesday's practice session, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.

Worthy appears to have recovered from the left hamstring injury that kept him sidelined throughout OTAs and mandatory minicamp, and though he missed a few plays Wednesday due to a hand issue, he was back on the field and catching passes from Ian Book by the end of the session. Per Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site, the team is currently hosting a "pre-camp" introduction for quarterbacks and rookies, which includes three practices before training camp officially kicks off Sunday. Patrick Mahomes said Tuesday that Worthy won't be eased into action come camp, according to Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com, so the rookie first-round pick should be competing for notable practice reps before long.

  • Chiefs' BJ Thompson: Shifts to NFI list

Kansas City placed Thompson (undisclosed) on the active/non-football injury list Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Thompson being placed on the NFI list to begin training camp isn't surprising, as he suffered a seizure and cardiac arrest during a team meeting back in June. Kansas City will doubtless take every precaution with Thompson's recovery as he works his way back onto the practice field. He'll be eligible to return from the NFI list at any point during training camp or the preseason, once cleared to practice.
